Women's Basketball Hosts Sacred Heart on Wednesday

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's basketball team will host Sacred Heart on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at McGonigle Hall. The 3-4 Owls are looking to get back to .500 after a loss to #13/14 Florida State on Sunday.
Against the Seminoles, the Owls trailed by just four at the half, before a 22-4 third quarter put Florida State in control. Temple was led by 14 points from sophomore Tanaya Atkinson, while classmate Donnaizha Fountain hit a career-high in points for the second-straight game, adding 13. Senior Erica Covile finished the game with seven points and a team-best nine rebounds, while sophomore Khadijah Berger had six points.
For the season, Temple is led by junior Feyonda Fitzgerald's 19.7 points per game, while sophomore Alliya Butts has averaged 12.7 points an outing. Atkinson also contributes double-figures in scoring, averaging 10.6 points with 5.1 rebounds per game, while Covile (8.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg) and Fountain (7.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg) also figure into the stat leaders for the Owls.
Sacred Heart enters the game with a 1-6 mark, having lost three in a row, two of which were by just two points. In their last outing, the Pioneers dropped a 53-51 contest at Vermont on Sunday.
Against the Catamounts, Sacred Heart's offense came alive for a 15-2 run in the two final minutes of the game, but it wasn't enough to overcome Vermont's early lead. Shelby Hickey led SHU for the second straight game with 11 points, shooting 57.1% (4-for7) from the floor. Adaysha Williams tallied 10 points in the loss, while Alissa Tarsi led all players on the boards, pulling down a career-high 12 rebounds.
For the season, Hannah Kimmel leads the Pioneers with 14.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, while Williams puts up 12.9 points, shooting 50% from the field and 50% from three. Alissa Tarsi contributes 12.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, while Hickey averages 8.6 points a game.
Wednesday's game will be the first ever meeting for Temple and Sacred Heart.
