Two School Records Broken at Valentine Invitational

BOSTONÂ - In the final meet before the American Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, junior Blanca Fernandez and sophomore Bionca St. Fleur broke Temple school records at the Valentine Invitational on Friday, Feb. 13.Â
Fernandez broke the 3,000m school record with an eighth-place time of 9:16.24 and St. Fleur edged the 200m school record with a time of 24.30 seconds. Both finishes are ECAC-qualifying marks.Â
The Owls also saw numerous personal bests on the day. Senior Jenna Dubrow earned a personal-best time of 9:56.76 in the 3000m run while freshman Catherine Pinson finished the mile in 5:10.12, also a personal best.
Personal records were also set by senior Hollis Coleman in the 200m dash (25.02), junior Courtney Mitchell in the 60m dash (7.90) and sophomore Simone Brownlee in the 60m hurdles (9.13).
In field events, St. Fleur finished fourth in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 5.71m while senior Kiersten LaRoche placed fifth (5.69m). LaRoche recorded a personal best of her own in the in the high jump with a height of 1.65m. In the triple jump, junior Jamila Janneh placed ninth and sophomore Sydnee Jacques finished tenth with distances of 11.91m and 11.90m, respectively.
The 2015 American Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held in New York, N.Y. on Feb. 27-28.
