Tyonna Williams Named to American Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Temple women's basketball senior Tyonna Williams was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the period ending February 22. 

Williams averaged 16.5 points per game in a 1-1 week, as the Owls matched-up against two of the top-three teams in the American. The guard opened with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting in an upset of Tulane, and then led the Owls with 17 points in a loss to USF. For the week, she shot 58% from the field (11-19), while also averaging 3.0 assists per game. Also this week, Williams moved into second place all-time on Temple's career three-point list, totaling 155 makes from beyond-the-arc.

For the season, Williams averages 10.1 points per game and leads the Owls with 86 total assists. She is also climbing the career assists record book for the Owls, totaling 359 in her career and recently tying Stacey Smalls for sixth place on the Temple list. 

Temple is back in action on Wednesday, traveling to SMU for an 8 p.m. EST clash on the American Digital Network.
