Kiersten LaRoche Takes Fifth in Pentathlon on Day One of American Athletic Conference Championships

NEW YORK - On day one of the 2015 American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, senior Kiersten LaRoche earned points for Temple with her fifth-place finish in the pentathlon. LaRoche's 3,555 points are an ECAC-qualifying standard. 

Junior Blanca Fernandez continued her success in the mile with her fourth-place prelim time of 5:04.73, which qualifies her to compete in the finals on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Bionca St. Fleur qualified for the finals in the long jump after placing eighth in the prelims with a personal-best distance of 5.71m.

Freshman Catherine Pinson ran a personal-best time of 5:13.52 in the prelims of the 800m run. Sophomore Sydnee Jacques set a personal-best of her own in the prelims of the 60m hurdles with a mark of 9.10 seconds. 

Competition continues tomorrow morning with junior Jamila Janneh in the high jump at 9:45 a.m. The Owls will also have athletes competing in the triple jump, 3,000m run and 4x400m relay tomorrow afternoon.
