WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Junior Brandon Matthews fired his second straight under-par round, carding a two-under 68 on the final day of competition at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate and finished tied for second overall among the 160 golfers with an even-par 210 on Tuesday. Â The Owls moved up five places to tie for 22nd overall out of 30 teams at the tournament held at Kingsmill Resort's River Course.

Not only Matthews (73-69-68), but all of Temple's five-man team had their best rounds of the three-day tournament. Senior Matt Teesdale (82-79-73, 234) was one-over on the day and tied for 111th overall. Â Senior Patrick Ross (79-83-74, 236) was two-over and tied for 126th while freshmen Evan Thornton (80-86-71, 237) was one-over and one shot behind Ross and tied for 132nd. Â Freshman Mark Farley (80-85-78, 243) rounded out the squad (t-144th).
Radford defeated Loyola-Maryland in a playoff to win the team title while Loyola-Maryland's Matt Oshrine (70-72-66, 208) won the individual title.
