Lacrosse Hosts Marquette at Noon on Saturday; Owls to Celebrate Alumni and FOJ Day

4.10.15 | Women's Lacrosse

PHILADELPHIA - Two home games remain for Temple lacrosse in the 2015 season, and the first of those is slated for Saturday, April 11 as the Owls play host to Marquette at noon. Temple will have plenty to celebrate as the game is dedicated to both Friends of Jaclyn Day and Alumni/Championship Day. Fans unable to get to Geasey Field can watch a free live stream and follow along on live stats.

Temple is 8-4 overall while Marquette comes into Saturday's game at 4-9 for the season. Both teams have gone 0-3 to start BIG EAST Conference play, and will be looking for their first win this weekend. It will be just the second-ever meeting between the Owls and the Golden Eagles, with Temple taking last year's meeting on the road by a score of 11-7.

Friends of Jaclyn Day
Five years ago, in April of 2010, the Temple lacrosse team adopted its second "sister" through the Friends of Jaclyn (FOJ) Foundation. When Lily Adkins first met the team, she was a shy four-year-old and only three years removed from the discovery and treatment of an ependymoma brain tumor when she was 14 months old. These days, Lily is an active nine-year old who has been cancer-free for close to eight years. Lily and her parents, Temple alums Trish and Mike, along with younger sister Chloe and younger brother Nicholas, attend the Owls' games when they can. Temple is celebrating Lily and honoring the FOJ Foundation on Saturday.

The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, formed in 2005, is a non-profit, charitable organization that improves the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors and their families. FOJ matches a child in need of love, support and friendship with a college or high school sports team based on geographic basis. After the adoption is completed, the child becomes an extension of the team where a unique bond is formed between the team members, the child and the family.

Alumni/Championship Day
In addition to honoring the FOJ Foundation on Saturday, Temple is honoring its alums for Alumni Day. The Temple lacrosse program has a rich tradition of success, including a pair of NCAA Championships in 1984 and 1988. The Owls have made a total of 17 NCAA Tournament appearances, the most recent coming in 2008 after head coach Bonnie Rosen led Temple to an Atlantic 10 Championship. Look for all alumni in attendance to be recognized at halftime of Saturday's game.
