Men’s Tennis Dominates in Doubleheader

PHILADELPHIA – The men's tennis team remained undefeated at home, as they took down Coppin State and Rider on April 8.

In their first match of the day, the Owls took care of Coppin State, 4-0. By default, Temple was awarded the doubles point. In his first action in singles, freshman Anutej Yadiki defeated David Ogan, 6-0, 6-0 at the third flight. Stephen Ong, another freshman, picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the second flight over Gavin Lewis, while Vineet Naran won 6-2, 6-2 at the first flight against Reginald Robinson.

In the second match, Temple blanked Rider, 7-0. At the first flight, Ondre Cargill and Ian Glessing defeated Ahmed Al-shawafi and Chanton Phan, 6-2, while Nicolas Paulus and Santiago Canete picked up a 6-2 win at the second flight against Jeremy Van Herwarde and Agaazi Berhane.

In singles play, Ong picked up his second win of the day, defeating Matthew Begley, 6-1, 6-0 at the third flight. Paulus picked up his 50^th career win, after taking a 6-0, 6-0 second flight victory over Phan; he is now one win away from tying for fourth in all-time career victories since 2001. Canete also captured a win at the first flight, taking down Al-shawafi, 6-2, 6-2, while Glessing nabbed a 6-1, 6-0 win at the fourth flight. Maros Januvka also had a 8-2 win at the fifth flight over Berhane.

The Owls (13-9, 1-2 The American) will wrap up their regular season at TU Pavilion against Fairleigh Dickinson on April 11 at 10 a.m.
