PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's crew team is set to compete at the upcoming Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta. The two-day event is being held on the Schuylkill River, Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9.

The Dad Vail is the largest intercollegiate regatta in the nation. The event, which will be run for the 77th-consecutive year in 2015, features 3,700 competitors from over 120 colleges and universities.

Assistant Coach Brian Perkins has high expectations for all of Temple's entries into the events. "We have a young crew, with no seniors in the varsity eight this year," said Perkins. "We think that if they relax, they can really make a statement this year."

"The second varsity eight expects to medal, hoping to eclipse last year's bronze," continued Perkins. "The lightweight four is a dark horse, having rowed against heavyweight boats all year. The freshman and novice boats are special, as well, we hope to reward their trust in Temple and our program with an appearance on the medal dock."

WPVI-6abc will once again provide coverage of the championship races on Saturday. The finals will be televised from 1-5 pm in the Philadelphia region and live streamed on 6abc.com and worldwide on ESPN3.
