PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced Temple's Alyssa Drachslin has been chosen as the conference's representative on the NCAA Division-I National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Drachslin will serve a two-year term on the national committee, where she will represent The American's student-athletes on matters of governance, legislative changes and national issues. She additionally will lead the American Athletic Conference's SAAC, which consists of 24 student-athletes from the 12 conference institutions.
The National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee includes 32 members – one from each Division I conference – who comment and react to legislative proposals, issues of interest and action of the division. The National SAAC has voting members on the NCAA Board of Directors, the NCAA Council and on other NCAA committees.
Drachslin will succeed Amanda Hardewig from Cincinnati, whose two-year term on the national committee expires in July.
Drachslin, a native of Riverside, California, is a three-year letterwinner as a libero and defensive specialist for Temple's volleyball team. She ranked fifth in The American in digs in 2014 (4.66 per set) has been named to the President's Honor Roll. She is a two-year captain of the volleyball team and is president of Temple's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
