Men's Cross Country Ranked 13th in the Region Heading into 2015 Season

9.4.15 | Men's Cross Country

PHILADELPHIA - Temple men's cross country has earned a USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Region ranking of 13th heading into its first race of the 2015 season. The Owls' first race is on Saturday, Sept. 5 at the Duquesne Duals. Coach James Snyder and seniors Matt Kacyon and Alex Izewski took some time to talk to OwlsTV about the ranking and the upcoming race.

Fifteen teams are ranked in each region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, and the Owls' ranking of 13th is their highest ever in the preseason.

Following last year's American Athletic Conference Championships, the Temple men earned a regional ranking of 14th, which marked their first time appearing in the rankings since 2012.

The men's team is in strong shape for 2015, returning all of its runners from last season. Leading the group are fifth-year senior Kacyon, an all-region and all-conference honoree in 2014, and Izewski. Two other seniors, Owen Glatts and Will Maltin, add depth to a veteran group along with transfer student Stephan Listabarth.

Kacyon led the men's team with an eighth-place finish at last year's conference meet. He qualified to compete at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships and placed 20th to earn all-region honors.
