Women's Basketball Plays at No. 1 UConn on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team will head to Storrs, Conn. on Saturday to square off against No. 1 UConn at 6:00 p.m. on their home turf. The game between the Owls and the three-time defending champion Huskies, will be broadcast live on CBS SportsNetwork with Brent Stover (play-by-play) and Julianne Viani (analyst) on the call.

The Owls
• Temple is 11-5 overall and 5-1 in the American. The Owls have won eight of their last nine games.
• Most recently, Temple outscored UCF 50-25 in the first half, and then held on for a 71-63 victory.
• Four players scored in double figures for the Owls, led by 16 points from junior Feyonda Fitzgerald. 
• Sophomore Alliya Butts finished with 11 points, three assists, and three steals, while classmates Tanaya Atkinson and Donnaizha Fountain each scored 10, with Fountain picking up eight boards. 
• For the year, Butts leads the Owls with 15.7 points per game, while grabbing 45 steals. Fitzgerald is second with 15.3 points per game, averaging a team-high 5.2 assists. 
• Atkinson averages 12.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest, while Fountain (9.2 ppg ppg, 6.7 rpg) and Covile (9.1 ppg, 6.6 rpg) bolster the Owls on both ends of the floor. 

The Huskies
• #1 UConn enters Saturday's clash on a 52-game winning streak, including 15 in a row to start this season. The Huskies are the three-time defending NCAA national champions.
• Last time out, Moriah Jefferson matched her season high with 21 points, Breanna Stewart had 11 points and eight rebounds and UConn remained undefeated with an 86-46 win over Memphis.
• Katie Lou Samuelson matched Stewart's 11 points and Napheesa Collier had 10. Jefferson was 7 of 8 from the field and 3 of 4 outside the arc against Memphis.
• For the season, Stewart leads UConn with 19.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.7 blocks per game, while also averaging 3.8 assists per contest. Morgan Tuck is second on the team with 15.6 points per game. 
• Jefferson contributes 13.4 points an outing with a team-best 5.2 assists per game average, while Kia Nurse (10.1 ppg) and Gabby Williams (9.3 ppg, 6.3 apg) also aid the nation's top team.

Temple vs. UConn
• Temple is 2-5 all-time against UConn, winning the first two match-ups, but falling in five-straight.
• The Owls and the Huskies have met four times since the start of the American Athletic Conference, with UConn winning all four meetings. 
• Last time they met, UConn grabbed the February 1, 2015 match-up, 83-49, at McGonigle Hall. The Huskies used a 15-4 run midway through the first half to take over the lead and they did not relinquish it. 
• Freshman Alliya Butts led the Owls with 12 points, while junior Erica Covile notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, also adding three steals.
• Five players reached double-figures for UConn, led by a game-high 17 from Stewart. Tuck finished with 15 points and eight boards, while Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis had 12 points and five rebounds.
