PHILADELPHIA – Following three consecutive weekends of competition at the Ocean Breeze Complex, Temple track and field is set to travel to State College, Pa. this weekend for a two-day competition hosted by the Penn State Nittany Lions. The meet, set to start Friday evening, will feature nine Owls across nine different events.

Currently, six Owls have hit ECAC qualifying marks in the 2016 season in six different events. Topping the list is junior Kenya Gaston, who has qualified in the 200, 400 and 500-meter races. Other qualifiers include Sylvia Wilson (60-meter hurdles), Simone Brownlee (60-meter hurdles), Crystal Jones (high jump), Jimmia McCluskey (long jump), and Bionca St. Fleur (200-meters).

Looking to continue her success in her debut season, Wilson will be participating in the 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles. In the 60-meter hurdles, Wilson has collected two first place finishes and currently stands with a personal-best mark of 8.59 seconds, just .06 of a second behind the school's record of 8.53.

McCluskey will also be running in the 60-meter dash as well as the long jump. Brownlee and Jones will join Wilson in the 60-meter hurdles. Brownlee has earned numerous top spots in the event and stands with a personal-best mark of 8.85 that was logged at the Great Dane Classic on Jan. 16.

The first day of events at Penn State will conclude with the distance medley relay composed of Alexis O'Shea, Gaston, Maya Halprin-Adams, and Katie Pinson.

The second day of competition for the Owls will feature the high jump, 200-meter race, and distance races. Jones will represent Temple in the high jump where she has logged a personal-best 5'7" mark this season. St. Fleur will be running the 200-meter race and looks to best her own school record of 24.30 seconds in the event.

O'Shea, Gaston, Halprin-Adams, and Pinson will return to the track on day two. O'Shea and Halprin-Adams will be running in the 800-meter race where O'Shea has logged the teams' best mark with a 2:18.50. Gaston will be running the 500-meter race and Pinson will be running the mile.
