Brownlee, Gaston and McCluskey Lead Track & Field at Villanova Open

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Temple women's track & field team will bring home three bronze medals from three separate Owls in its second indoor competition of the season. Jimmia McCluskey, Simone Brownlee and Kenya Gaston each earned a third place spot in the finals of their respective events
.
McCluskey earned her bronze in the long jump where she hit a 5.66 meter mark. Senior Imani Shell also competed in the long jump finals, placing 11th out of a group of 39 athletes with a 5.2 meter jump.
Brownlee competed in the 60 meter hurdles and took third place overall with a time of 8.91 seconds.
Freshman Crystal Jones and senior Sydnee Jacques also ran in the finals of the event, placing fourth and seventh, respectively.
Gaston, who ran the 400 meter race, posted a time of 56.82 to earn the third bronze medal of the day. She was the only Owl to run in the finals of that event.
The 200 meter race featured three Owls who placed within the top 15 out of 56 total runners. Junior Bionca St. Fleur led the Owls with a time of 25.07 to take fourth overall. Aliya Sharp also ran the event in a time of 25.85 to take 12th and Cacie Rosario ran a personal-best 26.30 to take 15th.
The Owls return to the Ocean Breeze Complex next weekend for the Great Dane Classic on Saturday, Jan. 16. The competition, hosted by the University of Albany, is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
