Head coach Seamus O'Connor was disappointed with the team's first half performance saying it was one of roughest halves as of late, however was very pleased with how his team responded in the second half. Â
"The second half was great," O'Connor said. "We got the goal and had multiple second chances."
Temple goalkeeper Jordan Nash recorded her third-career double-digit save performance in the game. The sophomore piled up 15 saves, facing a relentless ECU attack.
East Carolina scored both of their goals in the first half, racking up 26 total shots in the contest. A header from Annah Lindberg in the 18th minute, and a 36th-minute strike from Lana Spitler, that came just moments after Nash saved an earlier attempt, provided all the offense ECU needed.
Temple did have a chance between the first and second East Carolina goals. Right before the Pirates went down to score their second goal, Temple's Kayla Cunningham took a corner kick into the box and junior Elana Falcone was pushed from behind. O'Connor was shocked there was no foul call.
"Everyone in the stadium knew it was a foul, O'Connor said. "Everyone on the field stopped and was waiting for the call but the official said he didn't see it."
