Men's Crew Wraps Fall Season by Dominating Braxton

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple men's crew team closed out the fall racing season in spectacular fashion, winning seven of nine events at the 2016 Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta.

Leading the way for the Owls was again the varsity eight boat, which finished two-for-two this weekend. The Owls topped the four-boat field with a time of 6:01.16, nearly six seconds ahead of the second-place crew. Temple's "B" boat also had a great race, taking second in their flight, recording a time of 6:27.00.

In varsity fours, the Owls' "B" boat won its flight, clocking in at 7:06.16, while the "A" boat was fourth overall, finishing in 6:57.79.

Temple entered four freshmen boats into the event, sweeping all four flights they were entered in. In eights racing, Temple's "A" boat clocked in at 6:21.50 to out-distance the field of five, while the "B" boat won in 6:00.60, which stood as the fastest overall time in the category.

In freshman four racing, Temple's "A" boat won in 7:07.14, out-pacing four other crews, while the "B" boat also won its flight, clocking in at 8:38.99.

Closing out the day, Temple finished 1-2 in the lightweight eight race. Both boats were neck-in-neck, and it was the Temple "B" team that recorded the win, coming in at 6:19.81. The "A" boat was just behind their counterparts, finishing in 6:20.13.

Temple is back in action on December 12, hosting its annual erg-a-thon. The Owls will then return to the water in the spring for a full slate of races.
