Coundourides, Rapacz Named to American Weekly Honor Roll

PHILADELPHIA -- For the final week of conference play, Temple volleyball had a pair of student-athletes on the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. The Owls were represented by juniors Kyra Coundourides and Izzy Rapacz on the list. 

Both Coundourides and Rapacz were key to a 1-1 week for the Owls', as the duo tied for team-best defensive honors, with both tallying top offensive performances. 

Coundourides handled setting duties, averaging 12.25 assists per set, tallying two double-doubles. Against league-champion SMU, she dished out 49 assists, picking up 10 digs and adding two kills and two aces. In a win over Tulsa, Coundourides recorded 49 assists and a team-best 17 digs, also adding three blocks and an ace. For the week, Temple hit .264 as a team. 

Rapacz averaged a double-double with 14.5 kills and 13.5 digs, hitting a massive.442. Against league-champion, SMU, she tallied 16 kills on just two errors, hitting .609 with 11 digs. In a win over Tulsa, Rapacz had 13 kills, hitting .310, and adding 16 digs for her second-straight double-double. Rapacz hit also tallied three blocks during the week, making her responsible for 30.5 Temple points in eight sets.

Temple ended the 2016 season with a 22-8 overall mark, including 15-5 in conference play.
