Women's Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Philadelphia College Classic

PHILADELPHIA – Following its most successful performance in the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, Temple women's track and field is set to kick off the outdoor season with the Philadelphia College Classic. The Owls will be running at historic Franklin Field on March 19 with field events beginning at noon.
The team will be featured in 12 different events including field, distance and hurdling events. American Athletic Conference champion Sylvia Wilson will return to the track to run in the 110-meter hurdles, as well as the 100-meter dash.
Bionca St. Fleur, who earned a silver medal for her record-breaking long jump performance at the indoor championships, will be running in the 200-meter race, as well as the 4x100-meter relay. Last outdoor season, St. Fleur earned three fourth-place finishes in the 200-meter race and worked as a crucial part of the school-record setting spring medley relay team at the Penn Relays.
Katie Pinson is also coming off an extremely successful indoor championship weekend. In the 3000-meter race Pinson bested her top mark by more than 30 seconds to log a time of 10:10.15. Pinson was also a crucial member of the distance medley relay that took home the silver medal. This weekend, Pinson will be running the 3000-meter race.
At the 2015 Philadelphia College Classic, Jimmia McCluskey took home the gold in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.34 seconds. McCluskey's personal-best now stands at 12.08 and looks to repeat for the gold on Saturday.
Simone Brownlee also brought home a first-place finish at the 2015 Philadelphia College Classic. In the 100-meter hurdles, Brownlee ran a time of 15.38 seconds to lead the group.
The Owls' 4x400 and 4x100 meter relays took first place last year, as well.
