Track & Field Wraps Up Day Two of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – The second day of action at the Penn Relays was highlighted by the Owls' 4x100-meter hurdles shuttle relay team.  Simone Brownlee, Crystal Jones, Sydnee Jacques, and Sylvia Wilson posted a heat-winning time of 57.59 to place third overall in the Championship of America final. Their performance ranks as the fastest time and highest finish in the event since 2009.
 
The Owls' spring medley relay team also had a solid showing, winning their heat with a time of 4:02.14 that ranked ninth overall.
 
After qualifying for the ECAC Championship race yesterday, the 4x100-meter relay team posted a time of 47.23 to place seventh overall.
 
Following the shuttle relays, Sylvia Wilson took on the 100-meter hurdle preliminary round. Wilson finished with a 14.0 to rank 10th overall and miss a qualification to the finals by just one place.
 
Jacques and Simone Chapman battled early morning rain in the triple jump to finish 24th and 31st, respectively. Jacques' best mark came in at 11.44 meters with Chapman hitting an 11.14-meter mark.
