Overton Named to American Weekly Honor Roll

9.12.16 | Women's Volleyball

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple volleyball player Kirsten Overton was named to the American Athletic Weekly Honor Roll for the period ending September 11. The senior middle sparked the Owls to a 2-1 weekend in the Cherry and White Challenge.

Overton hit .447 in three matches, as Temple battled two 2015 NCAA tournament teams during the event, narrowly falling to Cleveland State, 3-2, but topping UNH, 3-2, and sweeping Rutgers, 3-0. An All-Tournament selection, she averaged 2.08 kills per set with 1.58 blocks per set, totaling 24 kills (only 4 errors) and 19 blocks.  Overton had at least six kills and four blocks in each of Temple's matches during the week, including a 12-kill no error performance against UNH, where she was just one block shy of a double-double.

Temple volleyball (4-3) is back in action this weekend, competing at the 2016 Philadelphia Big 5 Challenge. The Owls open play on Friday against Villanova at the Palestra.
