Marc Steinsberger Named American Male Runner of the Week

9.20.16 | Men's Cross Country

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's cross country honors for the week ending Sept. 18 and Temple's Marc Steinsberger has been named the American's Male Runner of the Week.

Steinsberger won the Rider Invitational on Friday, Sept. 16, with a time of 24:39.04 in the 8K men's race. The graduate student led the Owls to a top-five finish taking the top spot out of 129 participants. Steinsberger won the race by five seconds over Evans Kibet from Marist.

"We're incredibly excited for Marc to have earned this honor in only his second race as an Owl," says head coach James Snyder. "Although it is still early in the season, our men's team is continuing to gain momentum and Marc has been a big part of that. There is still work to be done, but he has put himself in a great position to make a statement at the conference and regional level this fall."

Temple Men's Cross Country is currently ranked No. 14 in the Mid-Atlantic region by the USTFCCCA. The squad travels to Lehigh University to compete at the Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 1.
