Men's Soccer Welcomes Memphis For First Conference Home Match

PHILADELPHIA – Looking to continue its undefeated home schedule, Temple men's soccer returns to the Temple Sports Complex to host Memphis in their first conference match up at its new home set to start at 7 p.m. The Owls also look to post their first conference win after falling to UConn last weekend.
Temple is heading into the weekend after a thrilling victory at Penn State on Tuesday. With an 84th-minute goal from Jorge Gomez Sanchez, the Owls topped the Nittany Lions 1-0, marking the team's first road win at State College since 1989. The goal marked Gomez Sanchez's 10th of the season.
With eight regular-season games remaining in the 2016 season, Gomez Sanchez is well on his way to besting his 2015 single-season goals record of 13 that ranks in a tie for fifth all-time in program history.
Also entering the weekend with a strong Tuesday performance behind them is goalkeeper Alex Cagle. The redshirt-junior posted a career-high saves mark with nine against the Nittany Lions to secure his fourth shutout of the season.
Overall, the team ranks second in the American Athletic Conference with their 6-3-0 record, but remain in the bottom four conference teams who all suffered losses in the first American games of the season.
