9.30.16 | Women's Gymnastics

PHILADELPHIA – In its second year under the direction of head coach Umme Salim-Beasley, Temple women's gymnastics has announced its 2017 meet schedule. Headlined with three meets in McGonigle Hall, the Owls will hit the floor 12 total times before competing for an ECAC Championship at Brown University in mid-March.

The first meet of the season will be just after the new year on January 7 as the Owls make a short trip to Penn State for a 4 p.m. dual. After the face-off with the Nittany Lions, Temple will take a long trip to Knoxville, Tenn. for the 2017 Ozone Classic. The quad meet will take place at 8 p.m. January 14 and feature Illinois State, Wisconsin Eau Clair and Centenary College.

The Owls' first home meet will be a Sunday-afternoon dual with Ursinus on January 29. McGonigle Hall will host the action starting at 1 p.m.

January will wrap up with a trip to West Virginia where Towson and Denver will join the Owls as the visiting teams in Morgantown. The quad meet is set to begin at 2 p.m. Both West Virginia and Denver were 2016 NCAA Regional qualifying teams, with Denver eventually celebrating an individual national champion in Nina McGee on floor.

The first weekend in February opens up with the second home meet of the year. The 2017 Ken Anderson Memorial Invitational will host West Chester, Ursinus and Pitt for a 1 p.m. start on the 4th.

Three road meets will fill the remainder of February. The Owls will head to Towson, New Hampshire and the Pennsylvania Convention Center for the 2017 Pink Invitational on the 12th, 19th and 24th, respectively.

March features two double-meet weeks, starting with a Wednesday-Saturday competition slate. On the first of the month, the Owls will travel to Maryland where they will join West Chester and New Hampshire for a 1 p.m. quad meet. Three days later, the Owls face reigning ECAC champions Cornell.

After a dual meet at William and Mary on the 10th, Temple will close out its season with a home quad meet on Sunday, March 12. Ithaca, Penn and Southern Connecticut will travel to McGonigle Hall for a 1 p.m. start.

The 2017 ECAC Championships will be hosted by Brown on March 17 and 18.

Qualifiers for NCAA Regional Championships will be determined following the conference championship and will be held on April 1 at various locations across the country.
