Temple Hits the Road for First Away Match at Rider

PHILADELPHIA – Hitting the road for the first time in 2016, Temple men's soccer heads to Lawrenceville, N.J. on Saturday to face RV/#25 Rider at Ben Cohen Field. The 7:00 p.m. match features two undefeated teams who are coming off shutouts in their last matches.
The Owls stand at 4-0-0 and received votes in both the NSCAA National Coaches Poll and the Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 following a second consecutive 2-0 weekend. Jorge Gomez Sanchez, who leads the team with 10 points, picked up two player-of-the-week honors from both the American Athletic Conference and the Philadelphia Soccer Six.
George McGee was also recognized by the conference with a mention on the weekly honor roll.
Temple currently holds a 10-1 goal differential with its opponents and has logged shutouts in three out of its four matches this season.
The Matchup…
The Broncs, who stand at 3-0, have defeated Soccer Six members La Salle and Villanova, as well as NJIT, who they topped on Tuesday evening.
The team has posted six goals across all three matches, all coming from different players.
In 2015, the Broncs finished their season as MAAC Champions and took a trip to the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Overall, the Owls lead the series between the two teams 28-4-2. In 2015, Temple topped Rider 3-1 at the Ambler Sports Complex.
