MORGANTOWN, W.V. – In its fourth meet of the 2017 season, Temple women's gymnastics set a new program record with a 193.625 at the West Virginia quad meet on Sunday afternoon. Led by a 48.85 on vault, the Owls fought through all four events to top the previous team record of 193.575 set in 2004 at home.

"We had talked to them before the meet about the high scoring potential for the day because of the teams we were going up against," said head coach Umme Salim-Beasley. "They went out and attacked their routines and were able to get the result we hoped for. They were so excited [when they realized they set the new record]. There were some big cheers and the fact that they know that we could do even better was encouraging. This shows that they are finally starting to believe that are we are a great team."

Opening up the meet on beam, the Owls were able to post a 48.125 led by freshman Daisy Todd's season-high matching 9.775. Kerra Masella and Breahna Wiczkowski added a pair of 9.725 scores, which marks a new season-high for Masella. Reagan Oliveri posted a 9.65 in the lead off position. Whitney King rounded out the counting scores with a 9.25.

Floor saw four season-highs throughout the lineup. Making her debut on the event for the season, Kerry Arone led the lineup off with a 9.325 that was followed up Everett's personal-best score of 9.725. Gipson matched Everett's 9.725 mark to add a third season-high on the event. After three consecutive weeks posting scores of 9.6, Todd finally pushed over the mark to earn a 9.625. Odom completed the lineup with a 9.625. Both Todd and Odom suffered out-of-bounds deductions on their routines.

The Owls vault lineup continued their great season-long success, nearly matching the program record they set just two weeks ago with a 48.85. With some big sticks in the mix, Aya Mahgoub posted the Owls top mark with her second 9.825 of the season. Odom also showed a clean, stuck yurchenko full for a new career-high 9.8 on the event. Todd set a new season-high as well with a 9.75 that tied Sahara Gipson. Jaylene Everett and Yasmin Eubanks rounded out the lineup with scores of 9.725 and 9.6, respectively.

Closing out the day on bars, Wiczkowski and Eubanks led off in the first and second spots and posted back-to-back scores of 9.675. After a slip-up from Odom earned her a 9.0, Oliveri nailed her set for a season-high 9.7. Arone kept the momentum going adding a 9.75. Todd anchored the event and posted a season-high 9.825 to lead the Owls to a 48.625 on the event.

Todd continued her upward trend in the all-around with a new season-high 38.975 that placed third Denver's Julia Ross (39.4) and Towson's Gabriella Yarussi (39.05). The score moves her even higher in the record books with the fourth-highest individual all-around score.

"Today's result is absolutely a confidence booster," said Salim-Beasley. "Breaking a school record without our best day shows the potential we have to continue going up and up at each meet. They're seeing that even with difficulties during a meet we can bounce back and still succeed at the end of the day."

Overall, the Owls placed fourth behind nationally-ranked powerhouses #25 West Virginia (196.3), #7 Denver (195.9), and Towson (194.775). The team returns home next weekend to host the annual Ken Anderson Memorial Invitational that will feature Pitt, West Chester and Ursinus.

The Saturday afternoon meet will also be a pink "flip for the cure" meet, as well as alumni homecoming. The competition is set to begin at 1 p.m.
