Men's Soccer Snags 2-1 Conference Win Over Cincinnati

PHILADELPHIA - Temple men's soccer (6-6-1, 2-2) downed Cincinnati (5-6-1, 0-4)  on Saturday 2-1 in a flagrant conference match at the Temple Sports Complex to even its AAC record 2-2. Junior Hermann Doerner earned his first goal of the season and senior Joonas Jokinen aided the Owls with a penalty kick goal.
Keys to the Match
> Just seven minutes into the match, Cincinnati's Ryan Melnik was issued a yellow card yielding a penalty kick for the Owls. Jokinen nailed in the shot, giving Temple an early 1-0 lead. The goal was his third of the season.
> In the 12th minute, Cincinnati changed goalkeepers due to an injury. Noah Lawrence held the position for the remainder of the game.
> In the 66th minute, Doerner scored his first goal of the season, furthering Temple's ead 2-0. Assisted by redshirt senior Mark Grasela, Doerner slid the ball past the Bearcats' goalkeeper. The play was a collected off a header towards the goal that was deflected.Â
