Heirakuji's Defensive POTW Nod Highlights Three Weekly Honors for Volleyball

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple volleyball placed three players on the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honors list, highlighted by junior Mia Heirakuji's Defensive Player of the Week selection. Owl seniors Izzy Rapacz and KyraCoundourides earned honor roll nods. 

DIGGING DEEP: Mia Heirakuji
> Heirakuji earned her second career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
> The libero averaged 24 dig per match without a reception error in a pair of Temple wins.
> Against Tulsa, Heirakuji racked up 25 digs, while helping out on offense with eight assists in a win over Tulsa.
> Against SMU, she recorded 23 digs with five assists as the Owls beat SMU.
> For the week, Heirakuji averaged 6.00 digs and 1.62 assists per set.

DOUBLING UP: Izzy Rapacz
> Rapacz makes her fourth American Weekly Honor Roll appearance of the season.
> She posted back-to-back double-doubles, averaging 18.5 kills, 13.5 digs and 4.5 blocks per match in two wins.
> Against Tulsa, Rapacz led Temple's offense with 18 kills, adding 16 digs.
> Against SMU, she was just two blocks shy of a triple-double, rattling off 19 kills, 11 digs, eight blocks, and a pair of aces.
> Rapacz accounted for an entire sets worth of points against SMU, finishing with 25 on the afternoon.
> For the week, she averaged 4.62 kills, 3.38 digs, and 1.12 blocks per set.

DISHING IT OUT: Kyra Coundourides
> Coundourides earns her third American Weekly Honor Roll nod this year.
> The setter averaged a double-double (50.5 assists, 13.5 digs) in a pair of wins.
> Coundourides led Temple to it's best hitting performance in an American series this season, distributing an offense that hit .290 for the weekend.
> Against Tulsa, Coundourides dished out 46 assists while adding 19 digs and seven kills, without an error.
> Against SMU, she totaled 55 assists with eight digs and four kills.
> For the week, Coundourides averaged 12.62 assists, 3.38 digs, and 1.38 kills per set.

STREAKING OWLS
> Temple won its fourth and fifth straight matches over the weekend.
> On Friday, the Owls topped Tulsa, 3-1.
> On Saturday, Temple defeated two-time defending conference champion, SMU.
> Temple's weekend victories moved the Owls into second place in The American.

UP NEXT:
> The Owls have another set of home games this weekend.
> Temple hosts Houston on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Tulane on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
