Rapacz, Coundourides Hit Milestones, but Volleyball Falls to UCF

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team saw two individual milestones reached on Friday night, but the team result went against the Owls, as UCF swept Temple, 3-0. Senior Izzy Rapacz recorded her 1,000th career kill, while classmate Kyra Coundourides dished out her 3,000th career assist, but in the end, UCF took the win, 25-22, 25-17, 25-22.
KEYS TO THE MATCH
> UCF hit a massive .389 to Temple's .259.
> The Knights used several set changing runs to take control.
> UCF out-dug (47-44) and out-blocked (5-2) the Owls.
> Temple moved to 16-9 overall, 12-5 in conference play.
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
> Rapacz finished her night with a double-double of 16 kills and 11 assists.
> Coundourides racked up 38 assists with five digs.
> Freshman Dana Westfield had eight kills.
> Junior Iva Deak notched seven kills, hitting .312.
> Freshman Katerina Papazoglou chipped in with six kills and five digs.
> Senior Janine Simmons totaled five kills without an error, hitting .625.
> Defensively, junior Mia Heirakuji had eight digs, while senior Dara Peric added six.
SET ONE: UCF 25, Temple 22
> UCF hit .387 in the first set, but Temple kept things close.
> With Temple trailing 15-14, UCF went on an 8-3 run to go up 23-17.
> Temple rallied with five-straight points to make it 23-22, but UCF finished out the set.
SET TWO: UCF 25, Temple 17
> The Owls had the early edge, leading as late as 11-8.
> UCF rallied with an 14-3 surge to go up 22-14.
> Temple got a pair of Rapacz kills down the stretch, but UCF ended it on a Kia Bright kill.
SET THREE: UCF 25, Temple 22Â
> Temple led 7-5 before another UCF run, this one 6-1, gave the Knights an 11-8 edge.
> The Owls battled back to tie things at 14-14 on a Papazoglou kill.
> UCF scored six of the next seven points to open up a 20-15 lead.
> Temple rallied to make it 23-21, and 24-22, but UCF got the final point it needed for the sweep.
