Rapacz to Participate in USA Volleyball National Team Tryout
2.28.17 | Women's Volleyball
PHILADELPHIA -- Temple volleyball junior Izzy Rapacz will participate in the annual USA Volleyball Women's National Team Tryouts this weekend. The opposite is a two-time All-Conference selection for the Owls, who will suit up for her senior season in the fall.
"I am very excited for this opportunity," said Rapacz. "I know that there are going to be a bunch of other players with the same skill level as me and I'm really excited to see the level of play and the speed of the game. I'm also really excited to meet and learn from Karch Kiraly, one of the best Olympic volleyball players there was."
The tryouts run from March 3-5 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Athletes from 82 colleges and 10 high schools from across the country will be vying for spots on the U.S. Women's National Team and the U.S. Collegiate National Team program. U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly will direct the entire tryout process.
"I think this is a great experience for Izzy to play and compete with the best players in the country", said Head Coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam. "I have no doubt that she will represent Temple in a good way in front of the national team staff."
The U.S. Collegiate National Team program has three competition options:
Each athlete will have four sessions with each session broken into three waves. The entire tryout will also be streamed live along with Facebook Live sessions throughout the evaluation process. For details on the tryout and the roster of athletes, click here.
Selections for the U.S. Collegiate National Teams will be made by the end of March.
