Wren Leads Golf at Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Sophomore Trey Wren carded an even-par 72 for his second round at the Furman Intercollegiate Saturday to top the Temple squad.  The Owls ended the day in 21st place, shooting a 14-over 302 for the round at the 7,004-yard, par-72 Furman University Golf Course.

Wren, who shot a 75 in Friday's opening round, is tied for 53rd overall among the 127-golfers with a three-over 147.  Junior Mark Farley and redshirt freshman Erik Reisner both carded 76s for the second straight day and are tied for 100th place with eight-over 152s.  Redshirt sophomore John Barone (77-79, 156) was four strokes back and tied for 118th while freshman Marty McGuckin (81-78, 159, t121) completed the Temple quintet.

Clemson leads the 21-team field with a 20 under-par 556.  The Eagles are one shot ahead of South Carolina-Aiken (557) and shot a tournament record nine-under 63 to lead the field by three strokes. 

Andrew Novak of Wofford leads the field with an 11-under 133.

Play concludes Sunday with the final round of the 54-hole tournament.
