NEW ORLEANS - With a combination of academic and athletic success in the 2016-17 season, Millie Howard has earned a spot on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team.
Including the Scholar Athletes of the Year, a total of 752 women earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for this past year. To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
> For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.

During the indoor season, Howard set a new school record in the 1000m (2:52.02), Â and advanced to the mile run finals at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. She placed sixth overall in that event with a personal-best time of 4:52.99.
In the fall of 2016, Howard's debut for cross country was an impressive one. She earned three top-10 finishes in six races, and placed 20th at her first-ever American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships with a season-best 6K time of 21:37.
