Volleyball Travels to Florida for Matches Against UCF and USF

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team hits the road this weekend, traveling to UCF on Friday and USF on Sunday.
THE OWLS
> After finishing the non-conference season with a 3-9 overall record, the Owls have opened play in the American Athletic Conference with a 1-4 mark.
> Last time out, the Owls dropped both in a home series, falling to Cincinnati and ECU.
> Against Cincinnati, all three sets were close, but the Owls fell 25-18, 25-23, and 28-26.
> Against ECU, Temple won the first set, 25-20, but the Pirates won three-straight, 25-18, 25-14, 25-22, to take the match.
> On the season, the Owls are led by junior Dana Westfield and sophomore Katerina Papazoglou, who both contribute 2.35 kills per set.Â
> Graduate student Iva Deak adds 2.00 kills per set, while freshman Miray Bolukbasi chips in with 1.97 per frame.
> Senior Hannah Vandegrift leads Temple with 5.32 assists per set, while freshman Tyler Lindgren adds 5.14 assists per set.
> Senior Mia Heirakuji leads the defense with 4.02 digs per frame with senior Carla Guennewig tallying a team-high 1.00 blocks per set.
SCOUTING UCF
> UCF enters Friday's match with a 14-3 overall recording including a 5-0 mark in conference play, tying the Knights atop the American standings.
> UCF is led by freshman outside hitter, McKenna Melville, who has racked up 4.21 kills per set this season, adding 3.56 digs per frame.
> Kristina Fisher (2.97 k/s) and Anne-Marie Watson (2.61 k/s) both bolster the Knights' attack, which averages 14.02 kills per frame as a team.
> Jordan Pingel leads the UCF back row, averaging 4.66 kills per set, while Nerissa Moravec and Kathryn Wesolich man the net, both averaging 1.00 blocks per set or better.
> As a team, UCF hits .248, holding opponents to a .194 attack.

> Temple owns the all-time series against the Knights, with a slim 7-6 lead.
> The teams split a pair of matches last season, with each team winning on the road.
