BURLINGTON, N.C. – Senior Trey Wren continued his hot fall season, carding a career-best tying round of 66 in the morning and a 69 in the afternoon for a seven-under 135 to tie for the lead at the Phoenix Invitational Monday. Wren, who placed a career-best third at the Bucknell Invitational last week, now has four straight rounds in the 60s and his play has the Owls tied for fourth among the 16-team field.

Temple, which was one stroke behind host Elon after the first round, is now nine off the pace heading into tomorrow's final round at the 6,867-yard, par-71 Alamance Country Club.

Recapping the Day

Wren was simply brilliant all day for the Owls with six coming in each round.
Redshirt junior Erik Reisner tied for his best round as an Owl, carding a 68 in the morning, and following a four-over 75, is tied for 22^nd at one-over 143.
Junior Gary McCabe turned in consecutive rounds of one-over 72 to tie for 30^th at 144.
Redshirt senior John Barone had a one-over 72 in the morning, but struggled with his afternoon round (77) and is tied with senior Sam Soeth for 64^th at 149.

The Field

Elon (560) leads second place Gardner-Webb (564) by four strokes with Charleston Southern (568) one shot better than Temple (569) and Presbyterian.

"We had a really good start this morning. We did not do anything special, just played the way we should play," said Temple head coach Brian Quinn. "This afternoon we just came out flat, like we have before (during the fall). Everyone got off to a rocky start."
"Trey has been playing great all year," said Quinn on Wren's play. "The game is coming easy to him right now. He is a great ball striker. He should have been even better today, but he did not putt well. I want him to have an aggressive mindset tomorrow."
