Field Hockey Drops 3-1 BIG EAST Decision at Villanova

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. - An early goal did not hold up for Temple field hockey in a 3-1 loss at Villanova (7-8, 3-3) on Friday night. The Owls (2-14, 0-6) got a goal from junior Kathryn Edgar in the 14th minute, but were unable to score again.
Game Summary
> The game was a close one all over the stat sheet except in penalty corners. Villanova took nine shots on goal to Temple's eight and had seven saves to the Owls' seven, but earned 16 penalty corners while Temple was awarded nine.
> Edgar's early goal, assisted by junior Cristen Barnett, deflected off a Villanova defender and into the cage for a 1-0 lead.
> In the 22nd minute of the first half, the Wildcats tied it up, and then took a 2-1 on a corner just four minutes later.
> After taking a 2-1 advantage into the break, Villanova made it 3-1 with 13 minutes left on a goal by Abby Siana.
> The Wildcats' Erika Miller made two big saves in the final four minutes to keep Temple from mounting a comeback.
