Field Hockey Celebrates Senior Day on Sunday; Hosts Saint Francis

PHILADELPHIA - Temple field hockey's four-member senior class will be honored prior to the Owls' last game of the year, a 1 p.m. contest vs. Saint Francis (8-101). Temple (2-15) will celebrate the careers of seniors Chloe Johnson, Jessika Daniels, Nellie Doyle and Maris Stern.

Senior Day
> Chloe Johnson has started in 16 games this season and is among the nation's leaders with 7.7 saves per game. She made a career-high 19 saves earlier this year in a game against No. 6 Penn State. An advertising major, Chloe is a President's Honor Roll student, a BIG EAST All-Academic Team honoree and has been named to the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad for the past three years. 
> Jessika Daniels has played in 55 games for the Owls with 18 career starts and has scored six goals while adding two assists. She is a finance major and has been named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, the Temple Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad in each year of her career.
> Nellie Doyle has played in 41 games with 26 career starts, and battled her way back from an injury that kept her out for over a month earlier this season. Nellie is a tri-captain for the Owls and has made four career defensive saves. As an advertising major, Nellie is a President's Honor Roll student and has been named to both the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad every year. 
> Maris Stern is a fifth year senior who has played in an impressive 72 contests for the Owls with 44 career starts. She has scored five goals and added two assists, and tallied two goals for Temple this season including the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory at Lafayette. Maris is a marketing major who is an Athletic Director's Honor Roll student, a BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection and an NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad honoree in the past two years.

Scouting Temple
> The Owls hope to end the season on a positive note after a tough stretch that has seen Temple drop nine games in a row. In game one of the weekend, the Owls lost 5-2 to Quinnipiac in their final BIG EAST Conference game.
> Temple has one win at home this year as the Owls beat Towson 2-1 on Sept. 23. 
> Junior Lucy Reed scored her team-leading fourth goal of the year against Quinnipiac, while junior Cristen Barnett scored her first goal of the season.
> Leading the Owls in total points is junior Kathryn Edgar with 11. Edgar assisted on Barnett's goal vs. Quinnipiac. 
> Junior Becky Gerhart scored her first goal of the season at Drexel on Oct. 14 while freshman Claire Thomas made her second defensive save in the Old Dominion game that same weekend.
> With 16 defensive saves in 2018, Temple leads all teams in NCAA Division I. Sophomore Dani Batze has seven defensive saves to rank first in the nation while Gerhart has four (eighth in the nation).

Scouting Saint Francis 
> The Red Flash had won three straight before going 0-2 last weekend, and are 8-10 overall. They lost 8-1 to James Madison and 5-2 to UMass last week, and dropped a close, 3-2 game vs. Richmond earlier this weekend.
> Senior Brea Seabrook scored the lone goal for the Red Flash against JMU and leads the team in goals with a total of eight for the season. Seabrook is tied for third in all-time career goals (36) and career points (88) for Saint Francis. 
> Junior and co-captain Briana Govia has tallied eight assists for the season which makes her second in the Atlantic 10. 
> Saint Francis has matched its overall record and conference wins from last season with two games left. The Red Flash are currently fourth in the A-10. 

Series History vs. Saint Francis 
> Temple leads the overall series 2-0 against Saint Francis. The last time the teams met was in 2010 when the Owls took home a 7-0 victory.
