Gymnastics Signs Brooks and Smith to Incoming Class

PHILADELPHIA— Madison Brooks and Nichole Smith have signed NCAA Letters of Intent to join the Temple women's gymnastics class of 2023. Brooks and Smith are set to call North Broad home in fall 2019.

Brooks is from Gainesville, Fla. and attends Santa Fe High School. She trains at Sun Country gymnastics and competes in all events. As a freshman, Brooks competed at regionals and at Eastern Nationals in level 9. In her sophomore campaign, she also competed at regionals and JO Nationals in level 10. Last season, she qualified for regionals as a junior. Brooks plans on studying kinesiology at Temple.

"Madison brings a determination and drive that is rare to find," said head coach Josh Nilson.  "She will be a strong contributor on all four events for our team. She stood out not only with her gymnastics, but with her passion for the sport.  She loves the sport and is one of the most driven athletes I've ever recruited."

Smith, a Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. native, attends Florida Virtual School and intends to major in business at Temple. She trains at Starlight gymnastics and specializes in bars, beam and floor. She qualified for states and regionals as a freshman, sophomore and junior and is a member of the National Honor Society.

"Nichole brings a level of polish and flexibility that is not yet common with this program," said Nilson. "Her form in her leaps and handstands are second to none. In any arena she competes in you naturally find yourself watching her gymnastics."
