Women's Basketball Heads to Marist for Sunday Clash on ESPN+

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team continues its road stretch at Marist on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

THE OWLS
> Temple has started the season 2-1, opening with wins over Delaware State and Saint Joseph's, but suffering its first loss of the year at Ole Miss.
> In three games, sophomore Mia Davis lead Temple, averaging 18.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
> Graduate student Aliiya Butts, back from an injury that kept her off the floor last season, averages 12.3 points per game with a team-high 11 assists.
> Sophomores Emani Mayo (8.0 ppg) and Desiree Oliver (6.3 ppg) also pace the Temple offense.
> As a team, the Owls are shooting 37.6% from the field and 26.7% from three. 

LAST TIME OUT: Ole Miss 62, Temple 55
> The Owls fell on the road at the Ole Miss, 62-55, on Wednesday, as a slow offensive start doomed Temple. 
> Trailing by 15 in the first quarter, Temple rallied all the way back to tie the game at 38-38 late in the third, but couldn't complete the comeback.
> Mia Davis led Temple at Ole Miss with a career-best 22 points, adding six rebounds, while rookie Marissa Mackins scored the first 15 points of her young career. 
> Alliya Butts had seven points and a team-best four assists, while Emani Mayo added six points to pace the offense.

SCOUTING OLE MISS
> Marist is 2-0 to start the season, with wins over Navy and BU.
> The Red Foxes return all five starters and 98% of the scoring from the 2017-18 team that won 20 games and earned a bid to the WNIT. 
> Rebekah Hand, the 2018 MAAC Rookie of the Year and a first team All-MAAC selection, leads the Red Foxes with 17.5 points per game, also tallying 5.0 rebounds per outing. 
> Alana Gilmer has averaged 12.0 points and a team-best 6.5 rebounds in a pair of games. 
> Lovisa Henningsdottir has rounded out the scoring with 11.0 points per game thus far.
> In a pair of wins, Marist is averaging 40% from the field and 37% from three, while out rebounding opponents by eight boards per game.

LAST TIME OUT: Marist 68, BU 57
> Marist improved to 2-0 on the season with a 68-57 win in their home opener against Boston University.
> The Red Foxes opened the first quarter on a 9-3 scoring run and never trailed against the Terriers.
> Although BU cut the deficit to two points, Marist held on for the win, going 9-of-10 from the free throw line to ice the game. 
> Rebekah Hand led the Red Foxes with 15 points, while Lovisa Henningsdottir (13) and Alana Gilmer (12) also had double-digit points.

TEMPLE VS. MARIST
> Temple holds the all-time series lead, 3-1.
> The Owls have won three-straight games against the Red Foxes.

LAST TIME THEY MET: Temple 83, Marist 77
> Temple rallied for an 83-77 win over visiting Marist last season.
> Strong three point shooting and a lights-out 81.8% shooting effort in the fourth quarter got the Owls back in the win column.
> Four players finished in double-digits in scoring for Temple -- Tanaya Atkinson (25), Lena Niang (18), Mia Davis (18), and Emani Mayo (11).
> Davis rounded out her night with a game-best 15 rebounds, helping the Owls to a 43-27 advantage on the glass.
> Niang shot 6-for-8 from long-range, smashing her previous career high of six points.
> Mayo scored all 11 of her points in the fourth quarter, while dishing out a team-best five helpers.
> For Marist, Alana Gilmer scoed 24 points, while Maura Fitzpatrick (15) and Rebekah Hand (14) rounded out the scoring.
