Three Point Barrage from #16/14 DePaul Tops Women's Basketball

CHICAGO — #16/14 DePaul made 18 threes to power the Blue Demons to a 102-88 win over the Temple women's basketball team in a high scoring matinee on Monday in Chicago. The Owls dip to 2-5 with the loss, while DePaul improves to 5-3.
Keys to the Game
> Temple shot a season-high 50.8% from the field, but 18 DePaul threes made the difference.
> The Owls found themselves trailing by over 20 points early in the first half, before battling back to a single-digit deficit with five minutes remaining in the game.

Individual Highlights

First Quarter
> A fast paced first quarter saw the Owls give up their most points in a quarter this season, as DePaul led 29-17.
> The Blue Demons opened with an 8-0 run before Temple answered with eight unanswered of their own.
> Tied 8-8, the teams traded scores, with Niang hitting a pair of threes for Temple, but DePaul led 18-15.
> From there, the hosts closed the frame on an 11-2 run to lead by 12.
Second Quarter
> Temple shot a season-best 61.5% (8-13) in the quarter, but DePaul still increased the lead.
> After an opening bucket from Oliver, the Blue Demos put together an 18-5 run to take a 47-24 lead.
> Temple stopped the bleeding with a bucket from Butts, before DePaul sunk a pair of free throws with 3:36 to play.
> From there, it was all Temple, as the Owls closed the frame on a 10-0 run, to get the deficit back down to 13 at 49-36.
Third Quarter
> An 8-2 early run pushed the DePaul lead back to 20, but Temple kept chipping away.
> Temple surged with nine-unanswered, including six from Oliver, to cut it to 67-56 3:18 on the clock.
> DePaul pushed it back to a 19 point lead with a 10-2 run, before a Butts triple made it 81-65 after three.
Fourth Quarter
> DePaul had a pair of threes and two three point plays the hard way to push the lead back to 18 at 93-75.
> From there Temple put together a 16-5 surge, backed by nine Davis points, to get the deficit to single digits, at 95-88.
> Temple would get no closer, as the Blue Demons finished out the game on a 7-0 run to set the final to 102-88.
