Five Score in Double Figures as Women's Basketball Tops La Salle

PHILADELPHIA — Five players reached double figures in scoring, while the Owls had three double-doubles, powering to a 75-47 victory over visiting La Salle on Sunday afternoon. The win improves the Owls to 4-7 overall (2-1 Big 5), while La Salle dips to 3-11 (0-3 Big 5).
Keys to the Game
> Temple shook off a slow start to post a huge second half, both offensively and defensively.
> Trailing by one after the first frame, the Owls rebounded to take a five point edge at the break, and then broke open the game with a huge 22-10 advantage in the third.
> Temple out-rebounded La Salle 55-34, while out-shooting the Explorers 40.3% to 25.8%.
Individual Highlights
> Sophomore Emani Mayo had a great all-around game leading the Owls with a season-high 18 points, adding a career high six steals with six rebounds.
> Junior Shantay Taylor, sophomore Mia Davis, and freshman Alexa Williamson all recorded double-doubles, with Taylor and Williamson reaching the plateau for the first time in their careers.
> Taylor finished with 14 points and a career-best 13 rebounds, Davis notched 13 points with 10 boards, and Williamson finished with 11 points and a career-best 12 rebounds.
> Graduate student Alliya Butts was kept off the score sheet, but dished out a career-high 10 assists to lead all players.
> Rounding out the box score, freshman Marissa Mackins had 14 points while sophomore Desiree Oliver chipped in with seven.

> Back-and-forth action was the story of the first frame, which ended 12-11 in La Salle's favor.
> Neither team made back-to-back scores the entire quarter, but La Salle made a pair of threes to provide the edge.

> After an opening three from La Salle, Mackins answered with a pair from long range to give the Owls their first lead since 5-4.
