PHILADELPHIA - On Monday, December 10, the Brooks-Irvine Memorial Football Club of South Jersey will award Temple senior running back Ryquell Armstead with the Brooks-Irvine Collegiate Athlete of the Year Award at the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill, N.J. The Brooks-Irvine Memorial Football Club honors student athletes, coaches, schools, communities, and all of those who support the great game of football in southern New Jersey.
Armstead rushed for 1,098 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, propelling himself to third all-time in Temple history with 34 career touchdowns and fourth all-time in career rushing yards with 2,812. Serving as the engine for the Owls' high-powered offense all season long, he sits at 10th in the nation in rushing touchdowns and 11th in rushing yards per game (115.8), receiving first team All-American Athletic Conference honors, as well as a long list of weekly and monthly awards from various outlets along the way.
The Millville, N.J., native became just the third player in the FBS since 2000 to rush for 100 yards and record a sack in a game (vs. Tulsa). Armstead also rushed for 100+ yards in four straight games, and his six-touchdown performance versus Houston is an American Conference record.
Tickets for the 74th Annual Brooks-Irvine Memorial Football Club of South Jersey Banquet can be reserved by calling Bill Sonsini at 856-858-8712.
