India Anderson Named ECAC Coaches Choice Weekly Award Winner

2.20.18 | Women's Gymnastics

Danbury, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference has announced this week's edition of its Division I women's gymnastics awards, naming junior India Anderson its Coaches Choice of the Week. The honor comes after her first competition of 2018 at Saturday's Ken Anderson Invitational since a season-ending injury in 2017.

On Saturday Feb. 17 in McGonigle Hall, Anderson competed for the first time since a season-ending achilles injury in 2017. On her way to getting her footing back, she suffered a knee injury in the fall, further postponing her recovery. Originally, Anderson was slated to exhibition for the Owls on the floor exercise at the Ken Anderson Invitational, but a last minute change in the lineup pulled Anderson into the No. 3 spot. In her first meet since her injury, she scored a 9.7 to help the Owls to a 48.925 team floor score. Ultimately, the Owls earned its second home team win of 2018 with a score of 194.625.

The Owls will now prepare for a tri-meet at Air Force with New Hampshire on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.
