Millie Howard Takes AAC Indoor Mile Run Title

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Temple track and field closed out the indoor season with a first-place mile run finish from sophomore Millie Howard and two top-three finishes from sophomore Grace Moore. With a host of top marks, the Owls earned their highest American Indoor Championships finish since joining the conference in 2013 with sixth place out of 12 women's teams.
Mile Run
> Howard led the way the entire race, bolting through the last lap to be the first across the finish line. The sophomore finished the race in a personal-best time of 4:46.21 to take the individual title, breaking the meet records set by Blanca Fernandez ('16) in 2015 and Martina Rodriguez of Memphis in 2017.
> Moore was the next Owl across the finish line to place third with a time of 4.51.29 just behind UConn's Mia Nahom. The time gave the sophomore her first American Athletic Conference medal.
> Helene Gottlieb and Katie Pinson finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with personal-best times of 4.55.44 and 4.55.86. Freshman Lucy Jones finished 10th in a time of 5:03.74.
High Jump
> After clearing a mark of 1.70m, freshman Aisha Brown placed sixth overall in the high jump.
800 Meter Run
> Gottlieb represented Temple in the 800-meter finals and placed seventh overall with a time of 2:11.37.
3000 Meter Run
> In the 3000-meter run, Moore earned yet another spot on the podium with a time of 9.44.45 to place second overall. Howard placed eighth after clocking a 9.52.98.
