Aisha Brown Wins the Villanova Invitational High Jump

Staten Island, N.Y. – Temple track and field's Aisha Brown earned the individual high jump title at Saturday's Villanova Invitational hosted at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Collectively, the Owls earned two top-three finishes and performed several personal bests.
Keys to the Meet
> Brown's high jump of 1.70m is a new personal best for the freshman. Overall, her performance placed first out of three jumpers from Lehigh and one from LIU Brooklyn.
> Sophomore Ebonee Jackson and freshmen Sydney Williams and Candus Burks represented the Owls in the 60-meter dash. Jackson's time of 7.85 qualified for the finals, where she ultimately placed seventh overall with a final time of 7.79.
> The 60-meter hurdles featured Williams, who, after running a time of 8.89 in the preliminary round, advanced to the finals. Overall, the freshman placed sixth with a time of 8.87.
> In the long jump, junior Crystal Jones placed second overall for her leap of 5.54m. Jones' mark was only behind that of La Salle's Jessica Bryant.
> Jackson and Williams returned to the track for the 200-meter dash along with freshman Grace Gillespie. Jackson, who placed ninth overall, ran a new personal best time of 25.27 in the event. Williams and Gillespie finished with times 26.01 and 25.96, respectively.
> Freshman Mallorie Smith earned a top-10 finish in the 400-meter dash. Smith completed the race in a personal best time 58.37, placing seventh overall.
