PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple men's crew team had a strong showing at the 2018 Bergen Cup, winning the freshman eight and taking second in three other races.Â
VARSITY EIGHT
>Â Temple made up time on Saint Joseph's from their last meeting, but SJU still had the slight edge, taking the Bergen Cup in (5:36.1), ahead of Temple's 5:37.9.Â
> Drexel (5:49.7), La Salle (6:10.2) and Villanova (6:11.2) rounded out the varsity eight field.
SECOND VARSITY EIGHT
>Â In the second varsity eight race, it was another close finish that saw Temple come up just short to take second.
> Drexel took the title in 5:50.4, while the Owls finished in 5:51.5.
> Saint Joseph's (5:57.6), Villanova (6:35.0), and La Salle (6:42.9) wrapped up the race.
THIRD VARSITY EIGHT
> The Owls finished third overall in the third varsity eight race.
> Saint Joseph's won in 5:55.8, followed by Drexel (5:57.9) and Temple (6:07.9).
FRESHMAN EIGHT
>Â Temple grabbed gold in the freshman eight race, finishing in a time of 6:04.3.
> The Owls finished ahead of La Salle (6:14.7), Villanova (7:28.5), and Drexel (DQ).

> Temple's heavyweights will race against Marist and Holy Cross at Princeton tomorrow.
