Coundourides and Peric Named to Inquirer Academic All-Area Team

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple volleyball players Kyra Coundourides and Dara Peric were honored by the Philadelphia Inquirer as selections to the 2017 Academic All-Area Team. They represent Temple as two members of the seven-person team.
COUNDOURIDES
>Â An Exercise & Sport Science major from Brunswick, Ohio, Coundourides ia an All-Conference setter for the Owls.
> Last year she earned Third Team Co-SIDA Academic All-America honors.
> She averaged 11.30 kills per set and 2.87 digs per set, and ranks in the top 50 in the nation in assists per set.
> Coundourides has career totals of over 3,000 assists, 800 digs, 200 kills, and 75 aces.
PERIC
> A Finance major from Belgrade, Serbia, Peric is an All-Conference player for the Owls.Â
> She was a 2017 First Team Co-SIDA Academic All-District
> Peric averaged 1.49 kills per set and 2.49 digs per set this season with career totals of over 1,000 digs, 500 kills, and 75 aces.
> The 2014 American Rookie of the Year, she was a Temple Trustee Ten Award Winner last season.
ABOUT THE TEAM
> The team is voted on by the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors.
> In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.
