Temple Crew Announces Henley Royal Regatta Roster

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple men's crew team has announced the 16 student-athletes that will compete for the Owls at the 2018 Henley Royal Regatta beginning on July 4. The cherry and white are attending the prestigious event for the first time since 1994.
The Owls' travel party includes recent graduates, Tyler Baldo, David Buckley, Sebastian Devereux, Andrew Grochowski, Collin McKinney, Austin Theuret, and Samuel Vecchione. Rising seniors Stephen Gennaro and Joseph Leyland will join rising juniors Nicholas Carbonaro, Alex DeNolfo, Evan Funchion, Thomas O'Shaughnessy, James O'Toole, Mattison Sicko, and Brendan Wren on the trip.
All 16 of the student-athletes selected for the trip won gold medals at the 2018 Dad Vail Regatta, including Vecchione, Buckley, Devereux, McKinney, Baldo, DeNolfo, Carbonaro, Theuret, and Gennaro, who were part of Temple's record-setting win in the heavyweight eight. Devereaux, a former British world champion, will be making a return to his hometown to once again compete at the Henley, while Head Coach Perkins will be making returning to the Henley Royal Regatta for the first time as a coach.
Temple will race an eight in the Temple Challenge Cup, a four in the Prince Albert Challenge Cup, and also compete in a pairs race. Final racing line-ups will be determined closer to the event.
