Women's Soccer Heads to NJIT Friday, Wagner Sunday

PHILADELPHIA — Temple (3-4) continues its six-game road stretch this weekend as the team travels to NJIT on Friday, Sept. 14 and Wagner on Sunday, Sept. 16.

The Owls
> Sophomore midfielder Emma Wilkins leads the team in goals (4). Three Owls are tied in assists, with Gabriela Johnson, Kerri McGinley, and Morgan Morocco contributing to one goal each.
> Goalkeepers Morgan Basileo and Jordan Nash have both seen time in the net this season. Basileo has recorded a win in all three of Temple's shutouts. She has notched 495 minutes on the season. Nash has recorded 110:04 across two matches. She tallied several key saves in the Owls' most recent contest at Boston College to keep them competitive in the match.
> Last time out, the Owls fell to a talented ACC opponent in Boston College (8-0). Temple lost 4-1 to the undefeated Eagles despite strong second half play.  The Owls' lone goal came in the 61st minute due to forward Kerri McGinley's tenacity and persistence. McGinley pursued a long ball and challenged the Eagles' goalie as she stepped off her line to contest. The keeper bobbled the ball, McGinley kept the pressure on and capitalized on the empty net. It was her second goal on the season.

Scouting the Highlanders
> NJIT is led by head coach Ally Nick, who is in her third season with the Highlanders.
> Freshman midfielder Fiona Wright provides a strong offensive presence for the Highlanders. She has netted four goals, which leads the team.
> Graduate Amelia Sapirman is a mainstay for NJIT in goal. She has recorded 650 minutes in the net and 25 saves with a goals against average of 0.69.
> NJIT is 4-2-1 on the season after a 3-1 loss at Quinnipiac on Sunday.

> This will be the fourth matchup between the Owls and the Highlanders. Temple leads the series 3-0.
> The Owls seek to continue their three-game winning streak against NJIT. The most recent contest was in 2016, in which Temple won 2-0 in double overtime.

Scouting the Seahawks
> Wagner is led by head coach Phil Casella, who is in his second season with the Seahawks.
> Sophomore forward Le'la Allen, senior midfielder Peyton Beck and junior midfielder Maria Nunez lead the Highlanders offense with one goal each.
> Senior goalkeeper Katie Viscardi has amassed 22 saves in 499:23 for Wagner. She carries a goals against average of 2.16 and 64.7 save percentage.
>Wagner is 1-6 on the season after a 1-0 defeat at Hartford on Thursday.
