No. 10 Fencing Faces Tough Six-Team Lineup at Penn on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA - Five teams ranked in the first CollegeFencing360 Coaches Poll of the 2018-19 season await the 10th-ranked Temple fencing team on Sunday at Penn's Philadelphia Invitational. Included in that group of five are the No. 1 (Notre Dame), No. 2 (Northwestern) and No. 3 (Columbia) teams.
Meet Information
> The two-day event (with Temple competing only on Sunday in the women's meet) will take place at the Tse Ping-Cheng Cheung Ling Sports Center on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
> Temple has a jam-packed lineup, starting with #2 Northwestern at 8:30 a.m. The Owls will take on #5 Ohio State at 9:45 a.m., UNC at 11 a.m., #9 Penn at 1 p.m., #1 Notre Dame at 2:15 p.m. and #3 Columbia at 4:45 p.m.
Scouting Temple
> The Owls are 6-3 in dual meets so far this season, going 3-1 at the Sacred Heart Invitational in December and 3-2 at the Penn State Invitational last weekend.
> Columbia will be a repeat opponent of Temple's from a week ago, with the Owls looking to improve upon a 19-8 loss to the Lions.
> Senior Blessing Olaode of the sabre squad is the Owls' team captain this season, and turned in the top showing and best ever of 32nd in Division I Women's Sabre at the January NAC.
> In the Senior Women's Team Sabre competition at the NAC, the Owls earned an exciting runner-up finish.
> Junior Malia Hee has looked strong in multiple meets so far this season, and took gold individually at the Penn State Garret Open in early November.
