PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team resumes American Athletic Conference play on Saturday, hosting ECU at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN3.

THE OWLS
> Temple is 4-14 overall, 3-3 at home and 1-11 away from McGonigle Hall.
> The Owls finished 2-2 in the Philadelphia Big 5 this year, with wins over La Salle and Saint Joseph's and losses to Penn and Villanova.
> Sophomore Mia Davis leads Temple on both ends of the floor, averaging 17.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
> Graduate student Alliya Butts is second on the team in scoring, with 13.6 points per game, while leading the Owls with averages of 4.3 assists and 2.2 steals per outing.
> Freshman Marissa Mackins, who scored a career-high 19 points at Penn, averages 7.4 points per game and is second on the Owls with 37 assists.
> Sophomore Desiree Oliver adds 6.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
> Rookie Alexa Williamson is averaging 5.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, while junior Shantay Taylor is averaging 4.4 points and 5.2 boards per outing.
> Sophomore Emani Mayo chips in with 5.0 points per game.
> As a team, Temple is shooting 37.7% from the field and 27.6% from long range.
LAST TIME OUT: Penn 71, Temple 62
> Despite an 8-0 closing run by Temple, the Owls came up short in a Philadelphia Big 5 game at Penn, falling 71-62.
> Penn never trailed in the game, which saw only one tie at 21-21 midway through the second quarter.
> The Quakers scored 29 points in a huge third quarter, making eight of their final nine attempts shooting 73 percent overall.
> Freshman Marissa Mackins made 5-of-10 three-pointers on her way to a career-high 19 points while also leading all players with three steals.
> Sophomore Mia Davis added eight rebounds to 15 points, while junior Shantay Taylor also pulled down eight boards for Temple.
SCOUTING ECU
> ECU enters Saturday's game with a 10-8 overall record, 1-4 in the AAC.
> The Pirates lead the AAC with 11.9 steals per game and rank second with 4.0 blocks per game.
> Nicole Mealing was named ECU's acting head coach on Dec. 26, 2018.
> Lashonda Monk and Raven Johnson lead ECU with 13.5 points per game and 12.9 points per game, respectively. Johnson is the team's leader on the glass with 6.5 rebounds per game.
> Monk averages a team-best 3.1 assists per game and a league-best 4.2 steals per game.
> Destiny Campbell has 23 blocks and ranks second in the AAC with 1.4 blocks per game.
> As a team, ECU shoots 35.6% from the field and 25.2% from long range. Â
LAST TIME OUT: UCF 61, ECU 58 (OT)
> After fighting back to force overtime, ECU could not seal the deal in a 61-58 overtime loss to UCF at home.
> ECU was led by a career day from Lashonda Monk. Monk finished with a career-high 27 points on 7-of-17 shooting and 10-of-12 from the free throw line. The Greensboro, N.C., native also finished with eight steals and played a career-high 40 minutes.
> With an 8-0 run to open the third quarter, UCF took a 13-point, 33-20 lead. The Knights later led by as many as 15 before the Pirates outscored UCF 25-15 in the fourth quarter.
> Both teams struggled in overtime, but ECU scored just two points, both free throws, after UCF had already taken a four-point lead. Â

> Temple leads series 5-1 all-time dating back just four years to 2015.Â
> The Owls have won four straight including a 65-64 thriller in Greenville a year ago.
> ECU's last and only win was a 77-71 decision in the 2015 AAC Tournament.
