Gymnastics Releases 2020 Schedule

10.16.19 | Women's Gymnastics

PHILADELPHIA—Temple gymnastics head coach Josh Nilson announced the team's 2020 schedule on Friday, October 25. The defending ECAC Champion's slate is highlighted by numerous formidable opponents, five home competitions as well as the hosting the conference championship.

"I am very excited for our schedule this season," said Nilson. "I believe it positions these young women to be very successful. We have the opportunity to compete against teams from six different conferences, including the Big 12, Big Ten and the EAGL. We are excited for the opportunity to host our own conference championship this year as the defending conference champions."

The Cherry and White will kick off their 2020 campaign at Illinois on Thursday, Jan. 9. This quad meet will also feature Towson and Lindenwood.

The Owls will compete seven times in the City of Brotherly Love, with five of those competitions being held at their home gym in McGonigle Hall. The team's local slate begins on Saturday, Jan. 18 as it hosts SUNY Cortland and Southern Connecticut State.

Temple will travel to West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers, as well as UNH, the next Sunday on Jan. 26. After this trip, the Owls are back home on North Broad for the Ken Anderson Invitational to take on UNH again, as well as Ursinus.

The squad will not compete again in McGonigle Hall for another month, as it has five consecutive away competitions. However, two of these meets will be held in Philadelphia. The away stretch starts at Penn as the Owls will compete in the Pink Meet on Feb. 9. The next weekend, Temple will head to Ohio to face Bowling Green and Iowa State.

Nilson's squad is back in Philadelphia on Friday, Feb. 21 for the Philly Pink Meet that is held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. This competition will feature four other teams: Southern Connecticut State, Ursinus, Iowa State and West Chester.

The Owls' road trip will conclude with a quad meet at George Washington (with NIU and NC State) on Sunday, Feb. 23 and a multi meet at Maryland (with Yale, Penn and William & Mary) on Sunday, March 1.

The Cherry and White return to McGonigle Hall on March 6 to host their Alumni Night against Bowling Green and Penn. Two days later, the team will honor its seniors on March 8 as it hosts Ursinus on Senior Night.

Temple will wrap up the regular season at ECAC foe William & Mary on Saturday, March 14. The team will then turn its sights to defending its conference title as it hosts the ECAC Championship on March 21.

This year's NCAA Regionals will be held from April 2-4 at one of four sites: Penn State (State College, Pa.), Oklahoma (Norman, Okla.), Denver (Denver, Colo.) and UCLA (Los Angeles, Calif.).
