This Week
The Owls are 5-2 and 2-1 in the conference after losing to #19 SMU 45-21 on Saturday. Now, Temple will host AAC East foe UCF in a game that will have serious conference championship implications. With a win, either team can distinguish itself from the rest of the AAC East and can be on step closer to being the east representative in the championship game. Kickoff is set for Saturday, October 26, at 7:00 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN2, 610 ESPN, and WHIP Radio.

Last Week
Against SMU, the Owls offense struggled to get going early in the game and the Mustangs were able to compile a few quick scores on some long plays to get out in front early. SMU got out ahead 17-0 in the second quarter before RB Re'Mahn Davis was able to get the Owls on the board with a one-yard touchdown run. Davis had 16 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown on the day, he also led the team with four catches. QB Anthony Russo continued his streak of clean games, he went 18-32 for 171 yards and a touchdown. The lone touchdown came on a 25-yard pass to WR Branden Mack that cut the lead to 24-14 early in the third quarter. Temple was able to cut the lead to 10 on three separate occasions; once before halftime, early in the third quarter, and early in the fourth quarter, but the high powered SMU offense was able to counter each time with another score. The Mustangs pulled away in the fourth to solidify the victory.

The Temple defense has played some of the best offenses in the country this season, and SMU may have been the best yet. Unlike the Owls' opponents earlier in the season, the Mustangs didn't shy away from the competition. SMU ran 109 plays for 655 yards and scored touchdowns on a 75-yard pass and a 60-yard pass. LB Shaun Bradley and SAF Amir Tyler led the team with 12 tackles a piece. Tyler stepped up in the absence of SAF Benny Walls, and played his best game. DE Dana Levine registered two sacks in the game and CB Harrison Hand also grabbed his third interception of the season.

Last Time vs. UCF

The Owls put up 670 total yards and Russo went 31-52 for a career best 444 yards and a four touchdowns. RB Ryquell Armstead rattled off 142 yards on 27 carries. Despite the best offensive performance of the season, UCF pulled away in the fourth quarter and outlasted Temple, 52-40. It would be the only conference loss of the season for Temple.

Last Time vs. UCF @ Lincoln Financial Field
The last time Temple and UCF faced off at Lincoln Financial Field was on November 18, 2017. The Owls were unranked and UCF came in unbeaten and ranked #14 in the country. Temple took a 10-7 lead going into the second quarter before the Knights scored 24 straight points and took over the game. Despite the lopsided score, Temple outgained the Knights 397-384 yards, becoming first team to accomplish that feat in UCF's undefeated season. The 45-19 loss put Temple at 5-6 on the season, but the Owls would go on to win the final game of the season and the Gasparilla Bowl to finish the year 7-6.
